February 2005 Tournament Results:
I know this is late (again). It’s not like I enjoy procrastinating, I’m just so damn good at it!
This month’s tournament (I do that so it looks current on the web site) was “Meghan’s Choice” (which means if you didn’t like your partner, blame Meghan) and was played using the four-ball format (2-man, best-ball).
(Editors note: Just how many parentheses is he going to use?)
First of all, we would like to welcome new members Ron Weinstein and Sam Brickle. I mention them here because they didn’t win a thing. And we like that in our new members. (Editor’s note: You should always acknowledge new members each month, lame-o.)
First Place, Low Gross went to reining club champion, Neil Christiansen, who fired a blistering 70 on the day.
First Place, Low Net went to the team of Paul Susz and Manny Gonzalez, who combined for a net 60.
Second Place, Low Net went to Vince Levito and Rey Berney, who just missed out of first place with a score of 61. (Kind of makes you reflect on the round and blame your partner for that missed putt, doesn’t it?)
Third Place, Low Net went to Ton Halley and Marvin Marcus (of course) who combined to shoot a 62. (See notation above.)
Closest-to-the-pin honors this month were:
Hole # 6: Neil Christiansen, who drained the putt for the bird.
Hole # 12: Vince Levito who made me promise not to say that he dreadfully missed his attempt at birdie. Speaking of Vince … he wins 2nd place, he wins closest to the pin …
Hey Vince, go have another baby or something and stay away from our tournaments, will ya!
Long Drive on hole # 14: John Herman who boomed it past everyone. Either that, or he was the only one to hit the fairway.
Quick note: If you bring a guest to the tournaments, please do not have them sign their names on the closest-to-the-pin or long drive cards. They are ineligible to win the prizes and it may keep a member from winning. Also, the closest-to-the-pin must be on the green and the long drive must be in the fairway. Even if your tee ball is further but in the rough, you are ineligible.
That’s pretty much it, oh wait … we need our monthly award. Hmmm … let’s see …
I got it! This month’s newly created, yet highly coveted, “If I Can’t Be Club Champion, Then I’m Taking My Balls and Going Home” award goes to Roger Huxman, who after being dethroned last November by Neil Christiansen, hasn’t shown up for another tournament yet! (I needed to get that in because he signed up for the next tourney.)
Now that’s it.
