November 2005 Tournament Results:

Gentlemen,

Think back if you will. Back to those olden days of yore. Back to those thrilling days of yester year. Back, in particular, to the November tournament (if you can remember that far back).

We start out by once again thanking David Montero, form Heineken USA for the post tourney prizes. We always appreciate his generosity.

The format was four-ball (two-man, best-ball), the weather was beautiful (I think. It was so long ago) and the winners were:

First Place Low Net: The team of David Freedman and Roger Huxman with a score of 60. More on this, later.

Second Place, Low Net: went to the team that represented the youngest and oldest members in our association. Tim Henshaw (106 yrs old) and Michael Rafalowicz (5 ½ yrs old) teamed up to shoot a net 61 on the day. It was like New Year’s Eve watching these two out there. Seeing father time with his sickle, and young Michael in diapers. They do have something in common, tho … they both have a restricted license and are not allowed to drive at night.

Third Place, Low Net: went to Tom Halley and his partner, Darrell Palmer with a team score of 65. They beat out George Thibault and Marvin Marcus on a matching of the scorecards. Andrew Hall and his brother, Dickie (real name) also had a 65 but his brother was a guest and ineligible for the prize. (Plus, his name was Dickie).

Closest-to-the-pin honors this month went to:
Hole # 6: Michael Rafalowicz
Hole #12: Joe Corderi

Longest Drive Hole #14: David Freedman

All winnings went to the Red Cross Gulf Coast Hurricane Relief. (Too bad, cuz I know that after a costly divorce, Joe could use the bucks!)

This following is a notice that the handicap committee has, once again, determined that a member’s handicap needs to be adjusted to better reflect his actual scoring ability under tournament conditions (sound familiar, Marvin?)

After a review of past tournaments, we noticed that Roger Huxman entered six tournaments in 2005 and he won five and came in second in the other. Accordingly, based on his tournament scores for 2005, his playing handicap for future KBMGA tournaments will be adjusted downward from the current 6, to a 3 handicap. The handicap will be reviewed on a monthly basis. (Editor’s note: we have our eye on a couple others, as well.)

Some of the club championship matches were played this month and I’ll have an update on these shortly.

That’s it for now.

See you all out on the course.

Sincerely,

Bill Hayes
El Presidente Majestico Supremo
