January 2007 Tournament Results:
Gentlemen,
Since today is March 15th, let’s see if I can remember what the hell happened in the January tournament. (Editor’s Note: We’re not saying that El Prez is lazy, but he set up his next Procrastinator’s Anonymous meeting for 10 O’clock next summer, sometime).
We would like to welcome new member, Walt Anderson to the association. It’ll take him a few months to understand what he’s gotten himself into but, like the rest of us poor souls, he’ll probably stick around for the long term. Welcome, Walt.
Now on to the results. But first … We would like to point out what seems to becoming a trend in golf again. “The White Belt”. Ken Forsyth had one on when he played in the December, Presidents Cup tournament and Michael Myles was spotted sporting one just last month at the course.
So, wanting to be retro-fashionable, I’ll have to get one, as well. Trouble is, I’ll have to track down that old Jewish guy I gave it to on Miami Beach back in the late 70’s.
This month’s format was individual medal play. We had a full field (thank you) and the winners were:
First Place, Low Gross: The young South African, Tim Satow, who carded an unbeatable 73. ( President’s Question: Hey Tom, are we constantly funding this kid’s immigration process, or what?)
First Place, Low Net: Went to Brad Richter, who had a net 70 on the day.
Second Place, Low Net: Goes to Randolph “Bo” Potter with net 71. (Handicap Chairman’s Note: We think he’s in for another adjustment).
Third Place, Low Net: Went to Jay Flynn, with a net 72 and beat out Roger Huxman on a matching of the score cards.
Nice playing to all of you.
Closest-to-the-pin honors this month went to:
Hole #6: Keith “The Man” Chasin, who stuck it 4’3” from the hole. I know that Keith is “The Man” because that’s what he wrote on the card, Keith “The Man” Chasin. No ego there, eh?
Hole # 12: Our old buddy, Juan Porro, who landed it 5’10” from the pin.
Long Drive, Hole #14: Tim Satow (See above comment).
That’s pretty much it, except, what would a tournament recap be without this month’s newly created, yet highly coveted, “ Whoo Givess a Damnn” Award. I had mentioned that Greg Moroze would be the official tournament ranger to moderate our pace of play each month.
Well, he thanked me for the mention but added that next time I mention his name I should give him an extra “g”.
So … on my knees apologizing, it is Gregg Moroze (not Greg). And, in a show of solidarity, Greg Huxman has agreed to add an extra “g” to his name, as well. We’ll now refer to him as, Ggreg. Happy now, Gregg? Geeze!
That’s it for now. I hope to get the February tournament results out tomorrow, sometime, maybe.
Sincerely,
Bill Hayes
