July 2007 Tournament Results:
Gentlemen,
We have a few new members to welcome his month starting with Eduardo Pive, from Novecento Café, Chris Oday, Frank Fonseca and Steve Conlay, who joined us the morning of the tournament saying he didn’t think the KBMGA was still functional because of the lack of tournament results posted on our web site. (Smart ass!)
Ok, ok, fine … that’s my responsibility and I have been remiss in my duties. But we welcome the new members (even Steve) into the association and hope you all have fun playing in the tourneys.
We also would like to thank our sponsors for their continued support.
This month’s tournament (remember guys, it’s July we’re talking about) was our annual red, white and blue format.
The winners were:
Red Tees (handicaps 20 and above): Thirteen members teed it off from the forward tees and carding a winning net 65 was George Fisher.
White Tees (handicaps 10-19): Of the 26 players who teed off from the whites, local rock star Andy Waks came in first with a net 67.
Blue Tees (handicaps 0-9): Only three members played the blue tees and our tournament director himself, Phil Josephson led the pack with a net 78, a one shot victory over Hollis Batchelor.
Other scores of note were: Richard Deilke (67), Tom Halley (68),
David Freedman (68) and Jorge Dighero (69).
Closest-to-the-pin honors this month went to:
Hole 6: Don’t remember
Hole #12: Don’t remember, either.
Ya see … this is what happens when you don’t collect the markers after the tournament, you rely on the honor system to ask the members at lunch who thinks they won, award a bottle of wine to each of the winners and then completely forget who they were a month and a half later when I’m writing the results.
So if you got a bottle of wine after the July tourney, let me know and I’ll send out what a remarkable shot it was to the membership.
This is the part of the column when I normally give out our Newly Created, Yet Highly Coveted Award to one of our members who either did something spectacular, stupid or I just feel like making fun of someone.
But this month is different. This month I am putting out an A.P.B. (all points bulletin) and a BOLO (be on the lookout) for fellow member, Bobby Gusman.
Bobby, you haven’t played in a tournament all year, you don’t call, you don’t write and your mother and I are worried sick about you.
Actually, Bobby’s disappearance just happens to coincide with Phil Josephson taking over as tournament director. One must wonder just how much adverse effect PJ’s presence has on the membership.
So anyway, Bobby, if you’re out there, drop us a line and come back out and play.
And don’t worry. We’ll tell Phil to stay home.
See you on the course.
Sincerely,
Bill Hayes
