March 2007 Tournament Results:

Gentlemen,

Appreciation goes out to our sponsors again right off the top.  Your support is greatly appreciated.

This month’s tournament was listed as the Chapman/Pinehurst format, but nobody really likes that particular format so we changed it to Match Play vs. Par.

Due to the short notice of the format change, players were able to choose which format they would prefer to play.

The results are:

Chapman/Pinehurst format:

First Place:  was won by the team of Mike Black and John Herman.  So what if they were the only team to play that format.  They won!  Good goin’, boyz.

Match Play vs. Par:

First Place:  Ron Weinstein, who was 5-up against par.
Second Place:  Douglas Garcia, who beat old man par 3-up.
Third Place:  Jaime Moreno, who finished 1-up.

Closest-to-the-pin honors this month went to:

6th Hole:  Everett McDonald, who put it 7’1/2” from the pin.
12th hole:  David Freedman who stuck it 7’ 11”.

Long Drive, Hole #14:  Paul Freeman, staying in the fairway and outdistancing everyone on the day.

We thank everyone who came out on this St. Patrick’s Day event, even though it was a bit overcast for South Florida.  Which brings us to this month’s newly created, yet highly coveted, “I Can Grow a Leprechaun” award which goes to resident Irishman, Tim Henshaw.

After the tournament (and numerous pitchers of beer) Tim sits down at the table, pulls out a cup filled with dirt, starts putting pieces of grass and stuff in it and pours Irish whiskey in the cup.

Sure enough, up through the soil breaks a tiny leprechaun in a bubble.

Something to due with an alka-seltzer, a paper leprechaun and a condom.  We’ll leave it at that.

That’s it for now.  See you all next month.

Sincerely,
Bill Hayes
El Presidente Guiness
