June 2008 Tournament Results:

Gentlemen,

As always, we start out thanking our sponsors for their continued support.
Fellow member,

Andrew Hall, took pictures of the tourney, but haven’t heard from the young man since. (I played in his foursome and he’s probably trying to forget the round ever happened. (Because of his score, not me, wiseguys). So, when he finally does send the pics, we’ll put them in the photo album page of our website.

This month was my first month back playing since the September 2007 tourney. And it showed.
The format this month was Individual Net Championship which our tournament director, Phil Josephson, designated as a one of the four Major tournaments we’ll have this year. (Although I don’t exactly know what that means).

So, without further fondue, here are the winners:
First place, low net: went to a blistering hot, Lee Smith with a net 65! That’s a gross, one-under-par 71, folks. Lee received a half-day charter from Club Nautico. (And a handicap reduction.)

Second place went to an equally hot, George Fisher, who shot a net 67. His prize is a $50 gift certificate to Key Golf, which if I heard right, you might want to use really soon, George, and a bottle of fine Argentine red wine. I have both for you.

Third place: goes to my playing partner, Gino Delgado, who went low with a 69. Gino received two bottles of fine Argentinian red wine.

Closest-to-the-pin honors this month went to:
Hole #6: Lee Smith with his first ever hole-in-one! More on that later.
Hole #12: Eric Cabrera who put it 4’11” from the hole and sank the putt for the bird giving him a Sterling Cup score of 1 on the hole.

And just for your information (and my bo asting), I put it less than 2” from the hole on #3. And yes, smart asses, I did make the putt.

Long Drive on hole #14 went to Peter Hockman, who busted it LOOOONG.
We gave Lee a bottle of Champagne for his ace (forget that is says, “President’s Cup C-T-P winner in my writing on the label, ok Lee?). Eric and Peter both received a bottle of fine Argentinious red wine. I got squat, but that’s ok because as I was walking up the stairs to the clubhouse to go to lunch, I dropped a couple of bottles of fine Argenspillious red wine, which broke to pieces on impact. Sorry, Tom.

Oh yeah, I also gave one to Ken Forsyth for helping out with the scoring when we need him. Which is like, every month he plays. So we need another case.

And finally, this month’s newly created, yet highly coveted, “I just bought one of those hole-in-one plaques in the pro shop. I can’t afford to buy the drinks as well!” award goes to cheapskate, Lee Smith.

Oh, wait. In his defense, he did buy us all a round of beers.
Except, it was during lunch.

And the beers are free.

Next tourney is July 19. Please sign up early.

Sincerely,
Bill Hayes
