March 2008 Tournament Results:
Gentlemen,
I’m a little behind on the results (what else is new?) so let’s move this right along.
First, as always, our appreciation for our sponsor’s support of the association.
Also, staff photographer and fellow member, Bob Alt was back so we have a few pics of the day. Thank you, Bobo.
This month’s tourney was, “Pick your own Partner” played under the 2-man, better-ball format. And I must say there were some pretty good scores out there.
Leading the pack and taking First Place with a team net score of 61, were the field favorites, Roger Huxman and Randy Potter. They got there by a matching of the scorecards with:
Second Place winners, Ken Forsyth and Tom Horst, who also carded a net (or as Ken Forsyth would say, nettt) score of 61.
Third Place winners were Douglas Garcia and Juan Porro (64) beating out another score of 64 by David Freedman and Jorge Dighero. This is historic because we will no longer give out a third place prize when we play team events cuz we can only have so many winners each month. We need to keep it to seven winners on the team events, as well. We will still have a third place prize during single man formats.
As for our precision holes, closest-to-the-pin honors this month went to:
Hole #6: Brad Richter (10’ 0”)
Hole #12: Phil Allen (5’2”). Let’s just say they both got really close to helping their Stirling Cup standing.
Long Drive on hole #14 went to Long John Herman. Congrats to all.
Before I go, I see a note on the tournament sheet that I scribbled out during lunch which reads, “Phil Allen/Andy Wax band playing tonight”. Not sure I made that announcement at lunch so am doing it now. (Editor’s note: But Prez, isn’t it a bit late?)
Correction … My note says, “Phil Allen and Andy Wax band playing soon at a stadium near you! Contact Ticketmaster for details.”
That’s it for now.
